Droplet-based Biogenic Paramagnetic Nanoparticle Synthesis

چکیده

Droplet-based microfluidic system for biogenic paramagnetic nanoparticle synthesis is reported in this study. The engineered recombinant Escherichia coli (E. coli), which expressed heavy metal-binding proteins, were injected to droplets in the microchannel together with iron and manganese solution. Homogeneous droplets were generated and went through a serpentine channel to mix the three components efficiently. The droplets were collected from the outlet and incubated overnight at 37 °C. The synthesis of Fe-Mn paramagnetic nanoparticle inside E. coli was confirmed by detecting the movement of cells in the droplets induced by an external magnet, and was characterized by TEM.
